Anvil Rock: 30 April 2019



As you can see, I am finally going through my pictures from back in the day :)
I have not left my apartment in 12 days...due to Covid19.

Anyways, back to this hike.
Driving up to Paradise is such a treat! Beautiful forest roads, and as you get higher, you get these views of Mt Rainier in all her glory.

Starting from the Paradise visitor center, the staircase is covered with snow, people are putting on snow shoes, micro-spikes, or skis.

Today is one of those days where the sky is blue, with streaks of white, now the weather here changes rapidly!
As we hike up, within 0.5 miles, we get an amazing view!

My hiking partner and I keep going, I eventually get to Panorama Point, put my backpack down and just admire the view!


I have always thought the toilet sign is a joke, as it points to the sky! lol


My hiking partner is arriving..whoo hoo..




And then we meet this guy!




Saying goodbye to our friend, may cause his heart to melt..lol
We continued to enjoy the views.



Soon we see the rock!



After looking at it, we head down to find a lazy lunch spot, setup the tripod, and chill for while.
Actually, I think we slept away on the warm rocks! well its was expected, warm rock, warm sun, full belly..I mean its just natural..lol





Now is what I call doing "Outdoor Research!"


Oh look! Its Helens in the distance, that blew me away.. hehe :)



Even on our way back after dusting off snow, navigating icy patches in the parking lot, the sunset is another show!



Is interesting, when all that's left in the parking lot is the ranger and you!



We start driving off, and the overflow parking lot calls us back in :)
Why!?
This is why!

As we drove down, we could not resist a stop at Narada falls..



And that ends out day hike to Anvil Rock, off for Mexican food, which seems to be our staple on the way back :)

Mount Feathertop overnight backpack - Winter: Jul 2 2023

  Since moving back from the PNW to Australia, I knew Victoria had an alpine area, and that we could do winter backpacking with an iconic view of Mount Feathertop in Winter. I had seen a few pics of these mainly from skiers, and did not have anyone in my circle who would want to backpack in winter in AU. Hence, when my hiking and climbing partner came to visit from the PNW, this was a must do trip, along with a few others. Rialto Beach Backpacking: 15 May 2021

Rialto Beach is a very accessible backpacking location on the Olympic Peninsula.  Now in saying that, it will be a 3 to 4 hour drive from Seattle, and you can choose the ferry or drive the scenic route, I personally prefer to drive. For a day hike you can enjoy the beach and restrooms at the parking lot, however if you would like to stay overnight a permit is required.
